Dominican Experience Weekend in New Orleans

On the weekend of October 14th - 16th, sixteen young men gathered at St. Anthony of Padua Priory in New Orleans for our Dominican Experience Weekend. These young men came from all over the southern United States and beyond to learn more about Dominican life.

It was a weekend filled with prayer, sessions on the Four Pillars of Dominican spirituality and the vows, as well as conversations about life as a friar. Two student brothers from the house of studies in St. Louis joined us, as did Fr. Eduardo from our Memphis community. In total, we had nineteen guests for the weekend joining the already thirteen friars who live at St. Anthony making for a full and yet great weekend. Our next Dominican Experience Weekend will be February 17th - 19th. More details to follow.

Japanese quake’s epicenter located near Marian apparition site

The epicenter of the earthquake is located near the site of an apparition in which Mary warned about a worldwide disaster that could afflict humanity. In 1973, the Virgin Mary was said to have predicted a number of future events - including natural disasters even more serious than Friday's earthquake and tsunami - during three appearances to a Japanese religious sister, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa.
