Friar Highlight- Father Edward Everitt

Father Edward Everitt, O.P. has wanted to be a priest for as long as he can remember. Through his calling into priesthood Father Ed is able to follow his passion of preaching. His “a-ha moment” as a Friar in the Southern Dominican Province was the personal revelation that all people are made to the image and likeness of God.

Although he has not been to the movies in recent memory, he enjoys watching “The Mentalistand recommends To Whom Shall We Go by Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan as the last book he read.

In his downtime, Father Ed enjoys quality time with friends and family in Waveland, Mississippi.

Father Ed’s favorite passage is Genesis: “In His own image and likeness He made them… this is very good.”

Japanese quake’s epicenter located near Marian apparition site

The epicenter of the earthquake is located near the site of an apparition in which Mary warned about a worldwide disaster that could afflict humanity. In 1973, the Virgin Mary was said to have predicted a number of future events - including natural disasters even more serious than Friday's earthquake and tsunami - during three appearances to a Japanese religious sister, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa.
