Gratitude in Collaboration

We are itinerant preachers and with great enthusiasm we prepare for and enter into new missions. Our collaborative mission with the Vicariate of St. Catherine of Siena in Ecuador began more than five years ago. In mid-August, we completed our mission of five full years in Guayaquil, Ecuador. We consider this collaborative mission to have been a great success. There is sadness for the people of God and for the Dominicans who move onto new missions. It is a reality of our itinerancy. St. Dominic, our Founder, was itinerant. His life was based on that of Jesus Christ. Jesus was an itinerant. All missions upon which we enter, live and complete, are woven together with the common thread of preaching the Gospel truth. Our relationship with our Dominican family and the people in Ecuador does not end. We are grateful for having had this opportunity in collaborative preaching.

Japanese quake’s epicenter located near Marian apparition site

The epicenter of the earthquake is located near the site of an apparition in which Mary warned about a worldwide disaster that could afflict humanity. In 1973, the Virgin Mary was said to have predicted a number of future events - including natural disasters even more serious than Friday's earthquake and tsunami - during three appearances to a Japanese religious sister, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa.
