The Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary

On October 7, the School community gathered for Mass on the Feast of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary to witness the blessing of the School's newest areas by The Very Rev. David Caron, O.P., Br. Mauricio Salazar, O.P. and Deacon Patrick Hancock ’73.

The blessing took place during Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., followed by a reception in and tours of the new areas. Participants were asked to share in the blessing and dedication of the three new areas before concluding mass. Members of the Gilliam Family were present to honor the legacy of Paul A. Gilliam '98, whose life was cut tragically short in March 2010.

St. Pius X High School began construction in June for Phase I which includes the Paul A. Gilliam ’98 Learning Center, the School’s new home for the Learning for Success program, the Lilly Conference Room, a new entrance on the west end of campus and elevator access to the second floor. Further campaign goals in the School’s most ambitious fundraiser yet include the construction of a new Science building, west campus access and the modernization of the core campus and existing classrooms.

"It was an honor and privilege to participate in these beautiful rituals. We are proud to collaborate in the mission and ministry of our Dominican Sisters who have been at St. Pius X for over 50 years,” says Father David Caron.

Japanese quake’s epicenter located near Marian apparition site

The epicenter of the earthquake is located near the site of an apparition in which Mary warned about a worldwide disaster that could afflict humanity. In 1973, the Virgin Mary was said to have predicted a number of future events - including natural disasters even more serious than Friday's earthquake and tsunami - during three appearances to a Japanese religious sister, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa.
